APINDO's Delegation Visited Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) Taipei
Thursday, 01 May 2025
As part of APINDO’s delegation roadshow to Taipei, the group continued its business visit to the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
During the visit, Chairman of APINDO Shinta Kamdani emphasized that Indonesia’s semiconductor sector is demonstrating promising growth, with a market value projected to reach USD 3.5 billion by 2024 and an annual growth rate exceeding 10% through 2026. This sector has become a strategic government priority, supported by abundant raw materials such as silica sand, tin, and nickel, as well as surging demand from the electric vehicle (EV) and electronics markets—EV sales alone grew by 200% in 2023. Initiatives such as the Wiraraja Green Renewable Energy Park and the Semiconductor Ecosystem Task Force are accelerating the industry’s development.
The National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) also underscores the importance of developing science and technology parks (STPs) to foster innovation. However, challenges remain, including limited stakeholder collaboration, underdeveloped infrastructure, and the need to strengthen industrial capacity.
In this context, APINDO sees significant opportunities for Indonesian businesses to collaborate with Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science Park—particularly in technology transfer, incubation programs, smart manufacturing development, and human capital training and upskilling. Through international partnerships and the strategic utilization of domestic resources, Indonesia is poised to enhance its competitiveness in the global semiconductor supply chain and drive sustainable industrial transformation.
Hsinchu Science Park, spanning over 600 hectares, is a global powerhouse in the semiconductor industry, home to more than 500 high-tech companies including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), MediaTek, and Taiwan Asia Semiconductor Corp. Seven leading universities surround the park, collectively hosting 60,000 students and 9,000 PhD candidates.
Chairman of APINDO Shinta Kamdani was accompanied by APINDO Boards, including Vice Chairman Eddy Hussy, Deputy Secretary General Hendra Widjaja, Chair of Trade Affairs Anne Patricia Sutanto, Vice Chair of International Relations Didit Ratam, Vice Chair of Investment Daniel Budiman, Chair of the Asia Pacific Committee Adi Harsono, Chair of the Taxation Committee for Banking & Financial Services Siddhi Widyaprathama, International Relations Board Helga Kumontoy, East Java Provincial Board Chair Eddy Widjanarko, and Treasurer Soejanto Wijaya.
