May Day 2025: APINDO North Sumatra Promotes Synergy Among Workers, Employers, and Government
Tuesday, 29 April 2025
Medan — The Indonesian Employers’ Association of North Sumatra (APINDO Sumut) emphasized that the commemoration of International Workers' Day, or May Day, on Thursday (May 1, 2025), serves as a key moment to strengthen relations among workers, employers, and the government in addressing global economic challenges.
Chairman of APINDO Sumut, Prof. Haposan Siallagan, expressed his appreciation for the positive attitude demonstrated by labor union leaders, who have committed to celebrating May Day in a peaceful and productive manner.
“This is a positive step for the business community. We fully support the creation of harmonious, dynamic, and conducive industrial relations,” Haposan stated in a written statement received by Mistar on Tuesday (April 29, 2025).
According to him, a conducive industrial climate is essential for establishing a stable labor environment. Such a climate is crucial to maintaining investor confidence and attracting new investment into North Sumatra.
“In this way, we can help reduce the unemployment rate, which tends to increase each year,” he added.
May Day 2025 Marked by Social and Educational Activities
Haposan noted that APINDO had received an invitation from the organizing committee to attend the 2025 May Day celebration, which will take place at the Multipurpose Building (GSG) on Willem Iskandar Street, Deli Serdang.
This year’s celebration will feature a range of social and educational programs, including community service activities, blood donation drives, free health check-ups, and labor-related dialogues.
These activities aim to strengthen synergy between workers and employers and foster constructive discussions on labor issues.
Appreciation for Government and Security Forces
Haposan also extended appreciation to the North Sumatra Provincial Government, particularly the Department of Manpower, for its continued efforts to maintain industrial harmony.
In addition, the contributions of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (POLRI) in maintaining public order before and during the May Day observance received special recognition from the business sector.
“Happy International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2025. May this moment serve to strengthen unity among workers, employers, and the government in facing future global economic challenges, as we work toward Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
